TLILIC0008 Licence to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity)

This course provides training in the safe operation of a non-slewing mobile crane with a capacity of more than 3 tonnes, incorporating a boom or jib that cannot be slewed.
A non-slewing mobile crane means a mobile crane incorporating a boom or jib that cannot be slewed, and includes:
  • An articulated mobile crane
  • Plant equipment with a side boom attached
  • Telehandler with a jib attached greater than 3 tonne capacity
This course does not include vehicle tow trucks.

Introduction:

Course Fees:
Upon enrolment, participants (or their employer) will be invoiced the course fees.  Course fees may be paid upon enrolment, and must be finalised prior to course commencement, unless an account is established with alternative payment arrangements.
Where course fees are greater than $1,500.00, no more than $1,200.00 is due prior to course commencement.  The balance is due upon completion of training, unless an account is established with alternative payment arrangements.

 
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Identify and understand the relevant workplace health and safety legislation, standards and codes of practice.
  • Identify the hazards related to operating a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity), assess the risks and put effective hazard prevention or control measures into place.
  • Identify and use appropriate communication methods.
  • Determine the weight of the load.
  • Understand the features and capabilities of the non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity).
  • Carry out pre and post start checks and report faults.
  • Operate the non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity) safely to the full range if its capacity.
  • Shift loads safely ensuring structural stability.
  • Respond to unsafe conditions.
  • Shut down and secure the non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity).
A person performing this work is required to hold a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for Non-Slew Mobile Crane (CN) or be enrolled in the course through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and under the supervision of a HRWL holder.

Target Audience:

This course is intended for any person who is required to undertake non-slewing mobile crane operations (greater than 3 tonnes capacity) as part of their workplace duties, or who would like to extend their workplace duties to include non-slewing mobile crane operations (greater than 3 tonnes capacity).

Licenced Operators:  Licenced operators who have let their HRWL lapse may apply for re-assessment.  Please contact SWQ Training to discuss.
Age Restrictions:  A High Risk Work Licence will only be issued by Workplace Health & Safety Queensland to applicants at least 18 years of age at the time of assessment.

Learning Methods:

Successful completion of the unit of competency requires sufficient evidence of onsite or face-to-face training and a competent result for the closed-book knowledge assessments and practical assessment.

Delivery Option 1:  5-day face-to-face training sessions and final assessment.  Delivery length may vary dependent on client needs.
Delivery Option 2:  Initial enrolment, induction and logbook issue to learn while operating under the supervision of a licenced operator at your workplace, face to face training sessions and final assessment (please contact SWQ Training to discuss Delivery Option 2).
