This course includes training to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 100 tonnes) for licensing purposes. It encompasses the requirement for up to 60 tonnes licence.

Introduction:

Target Audience:

This courses is intended for any person who is required to undertake slew mobile crane (up to 100 tonnes) operations as part of their duties.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify and understand the relevant workplace health and safety legislation, standards and codes of practice.
  • Use the hierarchy of controls to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
  • Use and interpret the crane manufacturer's specifications and data including load charts.
  • Use and follow appropriate communication signals.
  • Calculate the weight of the load.
  • Test communication equipment.
  • Select appropriate crane for the job and work conditions.
  • Carry out pre and post start checks on the crane, identify damage and defects, report and record defects, and check logbook for compliance.
  • Check ground suitability and planned route.
  • Drive the crane to work location and position.
  • Use and follow appropriate communication signals.
  • Operate a slewing mobile crane (60t up to 100t capacity) for the lifting and moving of loads to the safe working rated capacity in conjunction with other associated personnel.
  • Monitor the load movement and respond appropriately to unsafe situations.
  • Shut down, secure crane and store equipment.

Learning Methods:

Delivery option 1: 5-day face-to-face training sessions and final assessment. Delivery length may vary dependent on client needs.
 
Delivery option 2: Initial enrolment, induction and logbook issue to learn while operating under the supervision of a licenced operator at your workplace, and final assessment. Onsite delivery available. (Enquire below for more details about option 2)

Successful completion of the unit of competency requires sufficient evidence of onsite or face-to-face training and a competent result for the closed-book knowledge assessments and practical assessment.

  • Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of the unit of competency.
