RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans

TMI

This course develops the skills and knowledge required to read and interpret traffic management plans, as well as installing/removing signs and devices in accordance with procedures set out in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices Part 3 (MUTCD).

Introduction:

  • Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and TMR Traffic Management Implementation card upon successful completion of the unit of competency.
  • Please note: Successful completion of this course does not allow the participant to do the work of a Traffic controller (Stop-slow bat).

Target Audience:

This course is intended for any person who is required to set up and work with Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS), issued to them by a Supervisor or other suitably qualified person, as part of their normal duties.

Pre-requisite Requirements:  This course has a pre-requisite requirement.  This requirement may be met by holding a Work Safely in the Construction Industry White Card, or equivalent.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply relevant workplace health and safety legislation, standards and codes of practice
  • Plan and prepare to implement traffic management plans
  • Set out Traffic Guidance Scheme
  • Monitor Traffic Guidance Scheme
  • Close down traffic guidance scheme

Learning Methods:

Delivery step 1:  1-day face-to-face theory & practical training, and theory assessment.

Delivery step 2:  Completion of online training for Working in Proximity to Traffic Parts 1 & 2.  To access these courses please visit the TMR website.  A registration fee is required in order to register for each course, paid directly to TMR.  Certificates for each course must be provided to SWQ Training in order to meet all assessment requirements for this course.  If not supplied, certifications and the TMI card for RIIWHS302D Implement traffic management plan will not be issued to participants.

Delivery step 3:  3 x onsite set ups relevant to current work situations and completion of Third Party Report within three (3) months.

Successful completion of the unit of competency requires completion of theory training and sufficient evidence of workplace based application (completion of third party report).
